IRS Extends Washington Disaster Tax Relief Deadlines to August 5, 2026

River flooding

The IRS recently expanded and extended disaster tax relief for taxpayers impacted by the severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides affecting Washington State.

Eligible individuals and businesses in FEMA-designated counties — including King County and additional counties added as disaster declarations expanded — generally now have until August 5, 2026, to file qualifying federal tax returns and make tax payments.

The relief may apply to:

  • Individual and business tax returns
  • Quarterly payroll and excise tax filings
  • Estimated tax payments
  • Other time-sensitive federal tax deadlines

The IRS automatically applies relief based on your address of record if you are located within a covered disaster area.
